Data Privacy Policy
Overview
Welcome to Ponder, a platform built for curating human insights. This privacy policy explains how we handle your data when you use Ponder to create, participate in, or view polls and surveys.
Key Points
- Our platform operates on Farcaster, which is permissionless by design
- Most data is publicly accessible
- We offer limited anonymity options in specific cases (i.e., it‘s not yet ZK)
- We always try to indicate public vs. private content
Data Collection and Usage
Public Data
The following information is default public and accessible:
- Poll and survey questions
- Aggregate results
- Creator information
- Participant responses (unless specified otherwise)
Privacy Options
We provide tools for partial anonymity:
- Creator-Selected Privacy: Survey creators can enable the anonymous feature, which means we will not show individual respondent data to the creator or the broad public.
- Participant Privacy: In some cases, participants can choose more private response options. Generally, you should assume your response is public unless clearly marked anonymous.
- Results Display: Some aggregate data may be shown without individual identification, such as location data.
Data Visibility
We always try to clearly indicate the privacy level of different content elements:
- Public content
- Private or partially anonymous content
Understanding Permissionless Design
Due to the nature of Farcaster‘s permissionless architecture:
- Data may be accessible through multiple entry points, for example via on chain transactions
- Third parties might be able to access public data
- Complete anonymity cannot be guaranteed until we implement ZK proofs in the future
Best Practices for Users
- Assume content is public by default
- Be mindful of sharing sensitive information
Data Storage and Protection
- We implement industry-standard security measures
- Data is stored on the Farcaster protocol, our secure servers, or one of the enabled blockchains
Changes to Privacy Policy
We may update this policy to reflect:
- Platform improvements
- New privacy features
- Changes in Farcaster protocol
